Tuberculosis is a significant global health threat. One third of the world's population is infected with MTC ((WHO). TB kills over 2 million people a year (Nguyen 2004). Globally the rate of TB cases per year is increasing, even though in some areas, rates are stabilizing or declining (Dye 2005). With TB, we have the unique opportunity to develop public health informatic models combining both isolate genotyping and patient information to demonstrate how models can be used to solve important public health problems.
